The Institute of Marine Research (the Contracting Authority) would like to hire a ring net/trawler vessel for up to 21 days to carry out the annual acoustic trawling mission for sandeels in the Norwegian zone of the North Sea.
The aim of the mission is to get a measurement of the stock of sandeel, which is included as a central part of the Norwegian sandeel advice and management.
The mission is mainly an acoustic trawling mission with echo sounder measurements along defined course lines in the Norwegian sandeel areas of the North Sea. Data will be obtained from echo sounder, ADCP, and sonar. In addition, biological sandeel samples will be sampled with a bottom trawl, sandeel scraper, and grab. CTD and plankton samples will also be taken. HI will provide the trawl doors, trawler, CTD, grab, sandeel scraper and plankton net.

Kort beskrivelse:

The Institute of Marine Research will carry out measurements of sandeel in the Norwegian zone of the North Sea for 21 days, within the period 23 April — 13 May. The mission starts and ends in Bergen. The crew is scheduled to be replaced in the middle of the mission at Egersund.

The mission length will be 21 days, with the right to extend or shorten the mission for up to 3 days, subject to the necessary financial subsidies being granted to the contracting authority.

The vessel must be moored in Bergen for up to one day before the start of the mission as agreed with the contracting authority in order to prepare and calibrate the equipment. This time must be calculated into the day rate for the mission.

The mission will be carried out along the set course lines in the sandeel areas in the Norwegian zone of the North Sea. There will be trawled registrations of sandeel, and scraping both day and night for sample taking of fish. In addition, stations with CTD and plankton samples will be carried out at regular intervals in the survey area.

The number of representatives from on board from the contracting authority will be 8-10. The starting and finishing harbour for the mission is Bergen.
