The Institute of Marine Research would like to hire 2 trawl vessels or combined ring net/trawl vessels simultaneously for 14 days to test quantity measurements of the spawning stock of capelin in the Barents Sea during spawning.
The goal is to get the best possible quantity measurements of the capelin spawn stock in the Barents Sea, in order to evaluate whether this can be included in advice.
The mission is mainly an acoustic trawl mission with acoustic measurements along pre-set course lines and pelagic trawling where there are registrations. In addition, there will be measurements with sonar, and acoustic measurements of the strength of the measurements can also be required with the tenderer's own equipment that is brought on board. The mission will be carried out with two vessels in order to get good coverage of the area along the coast of Troms and Finnmark/south Barents Sea.
A research quota of 50 tonnes has been set aside for sample taking, 25 tonnes per vessel.

The Institute of Marine Research will carry out quantity measurements of Barents Sea capelin during spawning for 14 days within the period 26 February-11 March. The missions will start in Tromsø and end in Hammerfest/Tromsø.

The missions will last for 14 days, with the right to extend or shorten the mission by up to 3 days, subject to the necessary financial subsidies being granted to the contracting authority.

The vessels must be moored in Tromsø for up to one day just before the mission period starts as agreed with the contracting authority for the preparation and calibration of the equipment. This time must be calculated into the day rate for the mission. The vessels must be equipped with trawls and trawl doors for taking samples of pelagic fish.

The mission must be carried out as a trawl acoustic survey with fixed course lines in the spawning area for Barents Sea capelin in the area around Tromsø in the west to the area around Kirkenes in the east. Acoustic registrations will be trawled for taking samples of fish. In addition, CTD hydrographical stations will be carried out at regular intervals in the survey area.

The contracting authority will have 5 to 6 representatives on board. The port for the start of the mission is Tromsø, and the port for the end of the mission is Hammerfest/Tromsø.

Bunker must be included in the stated day price. Consumption is calculated in accordance with the following estimates for consumption for the mission:

Number of days with trawling at a speed of 3 knots: 1

Number of days with acoustic cover of the transect and in transit with a speed fo 10 knots: 12

Number of days moored for equipment calibration, CTD, measurement strength tests, etc., with a speed of 0 knots: 1.

Emphasis is put on the fact that the operations pattern for bunker consumption is only an estimate based on an equivalent mission and the expected activity. There can be changes to the activity.

The missions will be executed in accordance with the set up and management of the contracting authority. The captain must instruct the crew of the vessel to follow instructions and implement work assignments, including rigging of gear and equipment, sampling and tagging, as directed by the mission leader or his representative, as long as this is in-line with the operation of the vessel. The captain will be responsible for ensuring that the work on board is carried out in a safe way and will also be responsible for safety on board. It is a prerequisite that the captain and crew deem that it is safe to carry out the work.
