The Norwegian Institute of Public Health started monitoring the temperature of all its cooling/freezer units in 1998. The contracting authority currently has approx. 600 measuring points. The system monitors measuring points at 3 different locations. Different types of equipment are used to store/process material at a specific temperature over a given time (cooling/freezing, refrigeration/freezer room, freezers, automatic stores). For example, the material can be viruses, bacteria, DNA, medicines/vaccinations and many different types of media that are used in the laboratory. It is very important that these are stored at the correct temperature. There has also been some temperature monitoring of incubators.

Emergency power installations and UPS ensure continual operation in the event of a power failure.
The contracting authority would like to replace the existing monitoring system in order to profit from reliability, accuracy, safety and user friendliness. A lot of emphasis is put on reliability, documentation and reporting deviations.
