The Contracting Authority would like tenders for a modern and future-orientated system for radiation treatment based on linear accelerator technology. The delivery will run over several years (3-5 years). It is subject to the replacement plan being postponed due to various conditions. Tenders must consist of 5 linear accelerators for Haukeland University Hospital (3) and Stavanger University Hospital (2). In addition, an option is wanted to expand the contract with 3 linear accelerators for Haukeland University Hospital (2) and Stavanger University Hospital (1). The Contracting Authority requests 2 types of linear accelerators: — C-type linear accelerator with a traditionally designed gantry, — O-type linear accelerator with a circular gantry. The linear accelerators will be installed in existing bunkers, or possibly in a new hospital (Ullanhaug) for Stavanger University Hospital.
The existing Oncology Information System (OIS)- 'Aria' will still be used. The minimum requirement is that it must be possible to use the offered machines together with this. There will be an evaluation of how good the integration is with the existing OIS.

The existing dose planning system (TPS) — 'Eclipse' will still be used for the existing machines and possibly the new machines if appropriate. Machines that require another TPS for optimum functionality must be offered together with the TPS that gives the best functionality.

Software, possibly an upgrade of existing software, must be offered with the necessary licences that will ensure full functionality and capacity in the system.
The machines will be used for treating patients within all diagnosis groups — particularly large patient groups with cancer in the breast, head/neck, gyn, lung, GI and prostate. The machines must be able to deliver the full spectrum of the current modern radiation therapy, with high geometric precision and dose conformity. Efficiency is aimed at by using, amongst other things, IMRT/VMAT and a filtre-free radiation field with high dose rates (FFF). The machines could also be used for special set-ups such as TBI, as well as adaptive radiation treatment. All C type machines must have breathing control, and some of them must also be able to treat with electrons. All the machines must be delivered with good, efficient and integrated systems for image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). We would like the offered linear accelerators to be mutual twin/triplet machines at each location.

The total package must be user friendly and support quick and efficient process flow, and it must, to the greatest possible degree, be based on integrated and automated systems. The linear accelerator with accessories must be able to receive all treatment data automatically from the existing OIS, and carry out all forms of treatment and checks that the machine can carry out. After treatment, all the treatment data must be automatically stored in the existing OIS. Simple operation of the hardware and software will be emphasised. Emphasis will be put on security in patient administration and the best possible seamless integration between the new machines and the existing systems.

The system must be delivered with adequate courses and training so that it can be put into clinical operation.
