The objective of the project is the testing and development of a system where the environmental DNA is used as a supplementary tool for monitoring and mapping alien freshwater fish in the portfolio. For the first phase of the assignment the consultant must, in co-operation with the Norwegian Environment Agency, identify relevant field and laboratory protocols, and select the geographical areas for monitoring and mapping specified alien freshwater fish. After this phase, field works must be executed for the selected areas. The final report must contain a summary of the experience in regard the development of the organisation, and an evaluation thereof, for mapping and monitoring the freshwater fish by using the environmental DNA as a supplement to traditional methods. The upper financial frame for 2019 is 1 000 000 NOK. The project includes options for 2020 (1 000 000 NOK) and 2021 (1 000 000 NOK). The options must include the required revisions of the selected species and locations, as well as possible adaptations for field and laboratory protocols.
