Kilden and the previous Statens hus (Kanalgården) in the centre of Arendal are to be altered so that they function as a joint arts building. Arendal Municipality is co-locating offers to youths, the school of arts and voluntary cultural life. Housing the school of arts' activities in Kanalgården, which is connected to Kilden, will allow considerable co-use. The 2 buildings will, amongst other things, have large rehearsal rooms, teaching rooms, concert premises, youth club, activity rooms for dance, art, multimedia and film, as well as a theatre hall.
Progress:
Completion of construction and alteration work by early May 2020. The furnishing will start in mid May, with completion by the end of the month. The users will move in and establish themselves in the premises in June. The building will be used fully in the autumn term 2020.
