Avfall Sør operates 4 recycling stations, one in each municipality. Avfall Sørs recycling stations are important services for the inhabitants.

The recycling station in Kristiansand municipality is currently located in Skibåsen 34 in Sørlandsparken. The current recycling station is becoming too small and it is not able to meet the future development. A new site in Sørlandsparken east is therefore procured, for managing the increased population in the east central areas with increasing amount of waste.

The current operations shall be continued by moving to a new station. However, new/other activities may also be relevant. Avfall Sør's vision is ‘Smart systems for responsible waste management’ (Smarte løsninger for ansvarlig avfallshåndtering).

Important criteria regarding the construction of a new recycling station:

— sustainable and future-oriented systems,

— good logistics.
