A complete ICP-MS system will be procured to analyse elements in human biological material (full-blood, plasma/serum, urine) at the department of medical biochemistry, division for special analysis, Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål. The instrument must be able to analyse aluminium (plasma), lead (full-blood), cadmium (full-blood and urine), copper (plasma and urine), quicksilver (full-blood and urine), selenium (plasma) and zinc (plasma and urine). The instrument must have the capacity for a significant increase in the number of analyses (currently a total of approx. 5 000 analyses per year), and it must be possible to expand the analysis range with multiple elements and other biological materials in respect to both routine and research applications.
