Perpetuum mobile is Nittedal Municipality´s innovation project, which is to find new ways to give inhabitants an individual transport system that competes with private car use. The municipality would like, via service design, to develop an innovative system/service (preferably a public/private collaboration) that understands the people, that knows the area, that knows the needs, and that will allow people to park their private cars once and for all. We would like to use this procurement to get the right competence to carry out a good Stimulab project.

The challenge:

There is a very limited transport offer in Nittedal Municipality. Approx. 70 % of the municipality´s employers, who make up 35 % of the municipality´s inhabitants, commute out of the municipality for work, whilst 4500 commuters commute to Nittedal every day.

There is very limited transport to central public and private buildings and activities. This leads to a very expansive use of private cars, which in turn leads to parking problems by, amongst other places, the town hall, railway station, approach road parking, etc. The topography in the valley means that power-driven transport (in one form or another) is the only relevant alternative for many.

This project in Nittedal is limited to mobility within the municipality, not transport from the municipality to, for example, Oslo.

Roles and responsibility

Nittedal Municipality is the contracting authority and will be responsible for the project. Difi is making the procurement on behalf of Nittedal Municipality, as part of StimuLab. Difi is, however, not the contracting authority nor a contract party.

Budget: 2 000 000 NOK + an option for up to 2 000 000 NOK.
