The project comprises the construction of 5,15 km of a new national road 9 on the stretch Bjørnarå-Optestøyl in Bykle municipality in Aust-Agder County. The new road will roughly follow the current road, with some exceptions where the road shall be straightened. The work will, amongst other things, consist of removing matter, blasting, laying pipes (culverts, longitudinal drainage and conduits), asphalt work and railing work. The project also includes the demolition of existing bridges and the construction of 2 new bridges on the stretch. The bridges have a span length of 20 and 12 metres respectively. 2 bus lay-bys shall be established at Bjørnarå. In addition, approx. 700 m of cycle route 3 is to be altered, as well as the construction of several service exits and wood lay-bys along the lot. New lighting installations shall be established on a total of approx. 950 m, divided between 2 stretches.
