Stokmarknes is the birth-place of the coastal steamer. The Coastal Steamer Museum in Stokmarknes was founded in 1993. This year, the 125 years jubilee of the coastal steamer will be marked by the construction start of a new and grand Coastal Steamer Museum. Hadsel municipality is the builder, whilst Museum Nord is responsible for the management of the museum.
