Silo:
A new arts museum is planned with high ambitions, which will be a national landmark and a central force in the region and in the national cultural life, in and by the silo building from 1935 (with later construction stages) that is worthy of preservation. The building will be an exhibition arena for the AKO collection and Sørlandet's Arts Museum, the regional arts museum for the Agder counties. Parts of the silo must be kept, but the project also includes a considerable amount of new building.

A draft project and a preliminary project, phase 1, with a complete consultant team have been prepared for 'Kunstsilo'. The assignment will consist of further developing the preliminary project phase 1 through a preliminary project phase 2 and then detailed engineering services and the construction phase, which, amongst other things, include demolition work, ground work, alterations and renovation, a considerable amount of new building and outdoor work.

School of the Arts:
The town council in Kristiansand decided on 29.3.2017 to locate a future school of the arts in the centre at the cultural quarter on the Silo Quay, based on the winning draft from an architect competition. A room programme and a draft project have been prepared. The assignment for the School of the Arts is the further development of the existing draft project through a preliminary project, and then the detailed engineering services and construction phase, which, amongst other things, include ground work, new building and outdoor work.

The Contracting Authority is focused on optimisation of the quality in all phases of the project. The assignment shall therefore not be executed as a traditional turnkey contract, but as a turnkey contract with collaboration in the Preliminary project phase and expanded duty of cooperation in the Execution phase, see more about this in the contract terms in part II of the tender documentation.
