Skedsmo Kommune

The Akershus Art Centre and Town Park project’s primary objective is to realise new premises for Akerhus Art Centre and establish an urban park at Kirkegata 10-12. The project will be a part of the Cultural Quarter in Lillestrøm that is important for the municipality’s urban development. The 2 project have a tight interface, and Skedsmo kommune has determined that they shall be run as one project. The overall framework for the project is approx. NOK 89 900 000, respectively NOK 65 200 000 for the Art Centre and NOK 24 700 000 for the Urban Park. The main concept is to introduce a compact building of 1,580 m GFA to release as much as possible of the site for an Urban Park of approx. 3,500 m. The decision regarding the preliminary projects with investment decision for Akershus Art Centre was approved in 6.2017, but the Urban Park was approved by the municipal council in 12.2016. Given that the projects are now merged, the construction of the Art Centre and Urban Park will be implemented with an anticipated competition date in 2019.
