NTNU plans a number of space assignments with cube satellites with different payloads for research. NTNU will have the main responsibility for the design of the assignment, payload development, system integration and, also to a considerable degree, for testing and operation. In order to support the design, development, testing and operation, NTNU plans to procure cubes with satellite buses with space heritage and the necessary equipment and services. The space assignments will be focussed on marine and arctic applications and will involve close coordination with autonomous agents such as unmanned aircraft, unmanned surface vehicles, unmanned submarine vessels and buoys.

There are fixed plans for cube satellite assignments that involve a hyper-spectral pictorial load and a software defined radio payload. These can be combined to 1 individual or 2 separate 6U S / C. The aim of the procurement is primarily to support these 2 assignments, but we have included options that can be carried out in order to support several assignments that shall be decided upon in the near future.
