The framework agreement shall cover UiO’s need for freight services (not moving), here called courier, freight and forwarding services. There is a need for freight services locally, nationally and internationally, both regular freight types in the form of letters, documents, small and medium packages, but also special freight such as temperature sensitive biological samples and materials that must be temperature regulated and monitored (for example with the help of dry ice). Infectious biological material, chemical substances, research animals and other hazardous substances may be relevant.

For special freight, the primary freight need is for temperature sensitive biological samples and materials that must be temperature regulated and monitored (for example with the help of dry ice). Many of these samples are used in research and can be considered irreplaceable as they are biological samples from people and animals, where it can be difficult or impossible to obtain equivalent samples if they are damaged or lost. Therefore, there are very high expectations of the special freight service provider. Shipment errors, returns due to Errors, temperature faults or for e.g. Absence of dry ice priming are particularly not acceptable for these dispatches. There will also be a need for forwarding services in the form of customs clearance, import and export management.
