Samferdselsdepartementet [the Ministry of Transport and Communications] has given Forsvarsbygg [the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency] the task of preparing the preliminary project for the new main building at Jan Mayen. The main building shall replace the old building that was built in the 1950s. The buildings must have most of the facilities needed for living, working and leisure at Jan Mayen. Experience with engineering design in Polar Regions will be emphasised.
