E39 x county road 609 Halbrendsøyra-Steinen

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration shall upgrade the junction E39 and county road 609 at Halbrends bridge — establish traffic lights and construct a right hand corner lane on Halbrends bridge and establish a pavement along county road 609 from Halbrends bridge to Steinen.
There are longitudinal and crossing existing telecommunications, electricity cables and private pipes and cables along the route.
The project includes the construction of a junction, including traffic lights, concrete work, construction of a right hand corner lane on an existing bridge, pavement, alterations to the county road, replacement of the superstructure/matter replacement in the existing road, raising the county road and junction area, alterations to the junction and exits, high walls and replacement of the existing railings. In addition, 1 operational building, 1 house and 1 garage shall be demolished.

The annual daily traffic count (ATC) in the area is high, an ATC of 11 700 on the E39 Halbrends bridge, an ATC of 9300 on the E39 south of Halbrends bridge towards Bergen and and ATC of 3300 on county road 609 towards Askvoll.
The site work has been split into three sub-projects with different deadlines (the work must run parallel):
Sub-project 1: Construction of a new bridge on the E39 by Halbrends bridge and the right hand corner lane on the E39.
Sub-project 2: Construction of a new junction regulated by traffic lights, E39 x county 609 to x Halbrendsøyra.
Establishment of a bus layby on the E39.
Sub-project 2: Pavement along county road 609 from x Halbrendsøyra to Steinen. Alterations to county road 609.
The project is model based, supplementary drawings for individual disciplines will be made available.
