A separate competition will be announced for technical consultants.
Båthallen was the Norwegian Shipping Museum's first exhibition building in Bygdøynes. It opened in 1958, with traditional boats from the entire coastline and exhibitions on Norwegian shipping in the sailing-ship era. The exhibitions have been upgraded over the years, but sufficient grants have not been available for maintenance and renovation of the building. The hall is not insulated, the floor has settlement damage, there are several places where the facade and roof leak and the technical installations are out-of-date. The hall was closed to the public in 2009 and the exhibition elements and a number of boats and cultural-historical objects were removed.
