The capacity at Bekkelaget treatment facility shall be expanded to double capacity. After the expansion has been carried out, there will be the capacity to receive waste water from 490,000 person equivalents (pe) and, including rain water/melted snow, the facility shall be able to treat approx. 85 million m3 sewage water per annum.
Incoming waste water with a flow of up to 3.5 m³/s will be able to be treated biologically in a total of eight bio-basins, of which four basins are new. An increasing flow of the sewage amounts over 3.5 m3/s up to 7.0 m³/s will be treated with direct precipitation over new primary settling basins and lead directly to a new emission pipeline. The new emission pipeline was installed in the Midgardsormen project. At times of heavy precipitation amounts above 7.0 m³/s, the waste water will be lead to this emission pipeline via a seiving station, which was established in the mentioned project.
The sludge treatment will be completed with two new rotten tanks, a new sludge building and a new fat station. Some alterations will be made in the existing sludge building and parts of the dewatering and heat recovery equipment shall be replaced. The biogas that is produced will be led into the existing gas processing for upgrading to fuel quality. A new torch will be applicable.
The contract comprises all electro technical installations in the expanded sewage treatment plant at Bekkelaget, and includes the following:
New net stations will be established (transformers 11/0,4kV) in the sludge building and traverse hall in the rock plant.
New main distributing frames will be erected in the sludge installation and traverse hall. Distributions in hall 0 are fed from the main distributing frame/transformer in Midgardsormen.
Distributions, boards (MCC) frequency converters, cabling for building installations and processes are included in the electro contract.
Conduit paths shall be galvanised, mounted on media beams in access routes and on floor mounted ‘commuters’ in the halls. Stainless steel pipes are used for cables that are individually fed from cable risers to process units and components.
Light fixtures with LED are used for general lighting and floodlights are mounted to illuminate vaults in the halls. The lighting equipment is mounted with consideration to simplified maintenance. In halls and larger rooms, lighting is controlled in sections via CRM. In small rooms, lighting is controlled directly by movement sensors.
Every third lighting fixture shall be connected to the central emergency lighting and controlled by access control/CRM.
A photoluminescent guiding system and marking lights shall be installed, connected to the central emergency lighting in escape routes.
The current backup power generator in the rock plant will be retained, it will be expanded with new protection for UBRA.
Externally, a new backup power generator will be installed.
Interruption free electricity supply (UPS) is being established in the rock plant for i.a. CRM.
A complete fire alarm system will be installed. Aspiration detectors are used in halls, access routes and point detectors in mechanical rooms and distributions/boards.
ITV shall be installed for monitoring of process and traffic in the plant.
Access control will be installed for ports, access in to the plant, switchboard room and CRM room.
Communication in the rock plant is under evaluation.
