Follow-up evaluation of the project ‘Strengthened involvement of patients, users and relatives in supervision’

The Norwegian Board of Health Supervision, (hereafter called the Contracting Authority), would like to enter into a contract with a research and professional development milieu, (hereafter called the Service Provider), which can carry out a 2 year follow-up evaluation of the development work ‘Strengthened involvement of patients, users and relatives in supervision’.
Patients, users and relatives' right to involvement has been made statutory in recent years in several of the service areas that county governors and the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision provide supervision for. The overriding political management and the public in general have clear expectations that the supervision authority shall give users and relatives better options to be seen and heard in various inspection activities. We want patients, users and relatives to experience a more available and option supervision authority, at the same time that we strengthen the supervision work. Better communication and dialogue with users and relatives shall give a better fact basis for supervisory assessments and decisions.
In the national budget for 2015 and 2106, the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision has received 4 000 000 NOK from the Ministry of Health and Care Services for testing out new and appropriate work methods and development orientated measures. Subject to the Norwegian parliament's annual approval of the national budget, the resources will be continued in 2017 and 2018.
