The project shall ensure improved accessibility for the most important sections of Akershus Castle due to the Castle's major symbolic value and its important function as the Norwegian Government's representation premises. Akershus Castle is automatically listed in accordance with the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act § 4. An electric lift and a new stair in the Blåtårnet (the Blue Tower) at the Akershus Castle, from the basement to the first floor, shall be established. Access to the building shall be made by adapting the entrance from the courtyard to the lower floor/basement Access without steps or by movable ramps in the passage between the Tower and other sections of the Castle, shall be established.
