There is great focus on safety in Project New National Museum. One of the effect orientated goals in the project is:
‘The new building shall be such that the museum can keep its collections in a responsible museum
way, where damages/deterioration due to constructional conditions shall be reduced to zero’. This has in turn led to great focus on the inside climate and to ensuring that the art is not water damaged. This is also reflected in the ventilation installations.
There are 2 large ventilation rooms in the basement with 22 aggregates in the ventilation room in the west and 17 aggregates in the ventilation room in the east. In addition there are 6 minor ventilation rooms divided between two rooms on the 3rd floor with a total of 5 aggregates for magazines and four rooms on the 5th floor. The building has a technical middle floor between the basement and the 1st floor where large parts of the channels from the ventilation rooms in the basement divide into shafts and, which otherwise include a large number of conduits for both ventilation and electro.
The total treated air volume is over 600 000 m3/h. Most of the systems cover rooms that have special requirements for temperature, humidity and filtration.
11 aggregates for exhibition rooms with 1 to 3 zones with zone batteries.
3 aggregates for alabaster halls (each covers one large room);
9 aggregates for magazines with big requirements for density in the channel system and aggregate.
2 aggregates for workshops with extraction cupboards and point suction.
In addition there are a number of other larger systems that cover offices, library, vestibule, media and multi-functional rooms, restaurant, canteen and a number of other general areas.
There are comprehensive VAV developments in most of the systems and some aggregates are equipped with a recirculated air function. The VAV valves are provided by another contractor.
The ventilation air has, in many cases, both a heating and cooling function. In some rooms, with a large need for cooling, K302 shall deliver a cooling battery and fan that will be placed above the ceiling and connected to the supply and extracted air valves.
K302 shall also deliver automation that control the air volumes for rooms with extraction cupboards and point suction.
The alabaster hall (approx. 3 000 m2 gross) has a special supply system where air is pressed through ceiling plates (acoustic ceiling) where the surface is to be treated after assembly. There are large pressure chambers above the acoustic ceilings, which are provided by another contractor. K302 shall connect channels to these.
In addition to the large ventilation systems, there are a number of minor systems that shall be provided by K302, such as lift extraction, pressure setting systems and special ventilation for handling ammoniac.
Cooling and heating fans and computer room coolers are also included.
K302 shall also deliver a shavings exhauster and a central vacuum cleaner.
