The building is founded on point load-bearing piles on rock as a support for a bottom concrete plate constructed as a slack reinforced flat slab. Insulation, a sliding layer and a combined slack reinforced/tensioned cast (called the track cover) has been laid over the bottom slab with embedded plastic pipes for conveying a salt solution as a cooling medium.
It is now apparent that the embedded plastic pipes have limited durability and they now have cracks which have led to ever more leakages in the pipe system, which has resulted in increasing operational problems and operational expenses. The track cover shall therefore be demolished and a new, mostly equivalent cover shall be established.

Antall eller omfang:
A total of approx. 9 890 m2 reinforced and tensioned concrete slab with cooling pipes shall be demolished, divided between approx. 4 790 m2 on the inner activity area/training area and approx. 5 100 m2 on the fast track. In addition the concrete slab is to be opened locally over the culvert around the quick track for access to replacing the headers for the freezer pipe installations and some casting without cooling pipes is to be removed for access. The concrete currently has plastic pipes cc100 mm for the cooling medium (salt solution) out to the track cover.After demolition a new track cover of the same thickness as the existing is to be constructed, but with a cooling pipe distance of cc 80 mm. The construction shall, when completed, appear as ‘crack free’ and with a frost resistant cover that shall tolerate repeated freezing and thawing with an average temperature span from minus 25 to plus 25 degrees Celsius.
