Upgrading the sewage transport system Brumunddal-Hias treatment plant

Hias IKS has several pipelines with a high degree of sewage supply from the nutrition industry. The longest transfer is currently from Brumunddal to Rosenlundvika at Hamar, and then on to Tjuvholmen and the treatment plant in Stange. In Brumunddal the previous treatment plant is used as premises for pumping sewage southwards. The transfer from Brumunddal to Rosenlundvika was established in 1989/1990 and consists of 1 Ø 400 mm PE and 1 Ø 250 PE which are in daily operation.
A hotel shall be constructed on the site where the current pump station/treatment plan is and the new pump station shall therefore be established on a new site in Brumunddal. This means that the existing pipeliens must be altered. As the capacity of the pipelines is limited and the consequences of breaks in the pipelines are great, a new pipeline is wanted from Brumunddal and the existing pump pipelines will then be shut off and only used as back-up.
The project is planned to be carried out in 2 phases and four general contracts. Phase 1 consists of a new Brumunddal pump station, pipeline installations and a pump station for connection points on existing pipelines in Mjøsa, Furnesfjorden. Phase II consists of laying a new main pump pipeline from the connection point in Brumunddal to manhole K5/8496 including the establishment of a new back-up pipeline from Storhamarstranda to manhole K5/8496.
The project has very strict schedules as the new stations together with the pipeline installations in Brumunddal must be completed by 17.1.2017. It is only possible to cross under the E6/Strandvegen and excavate the land abutment when the water level is low (15.2.-15.4.2016). Connecting the pipeline installations in Mjøsa shall be carried out before 17.1.2017 and measures must be taken so that the area where the cutting and connecting (welding) shall be carried out is ice-free.
