Åna prison was constructed as Opstad enforced labour house in the years 1910-25. The site was established as an answer to the Vagrants Act of 1900 to detain vagrants and it was in operation up until 1970. The institution then changed its name to Åna district prison and was the seat of the Western prison district up until the year 2000. The prison name was later changed to Åna prison.The farm Åna prison, cadastral no. 36, title no. 1, is one of Norway's largest farms with approximately 3 000 decares of forest and approximately 1 000 decares of cultivated land. The farm is the largest individual milk producer in Jæren and Norway's fourth largest milk supplier. The entity is no longer considered to be in accordance with the Norwegian Correctional Service's requirements for future orientated punishments. As a result of this, the Directorate of Public Construction and Property has requested a process for a possible disposal of the site and possible sale of the milk quotas. Parts of this work will be carried out simultaneously with the project, but it is not a part of the project.The prison capacity is 140 places with a high security level, which are located in the main building and 24 places with a lower security level, which are established in the previous officials' residences in Rødgata. The prison receives men, both on remand and those who have been convicted. The main building forms the centre of the farm facility. The operational building's mid axis is an extension to the prison's central axis (the administration wing and the C wing). In the ‘farmyard’ by the prison building there is a large courtyard that is fenced in.The project includes the following construction areas:— Parts of the existing main building, with a gross area of approximately 1 000 m2 are based on an estimated gross/function area factor 1.2. The exception is the third floor in the D wing, which has a gross/function area factor of 2.0.— Parts of the existing operational buildings have a gross area of approximately 4 700 m2, with an estimated gross/function area factor of 2.0.— The new gate building has a gross area of approximately 300 m2 based on an estimated gross/function area factor of 1.5.

A combined information meeting/site survey will be held for all tenderers Tuesday 21.10.15 at 11:00 at Åna prison. Meet at the first car park on the left side (by the school building), after the barrier. As the site survey will take place inside the prison area, all tenderers who would like to participate must register with Isabel von Klitzing (isvo@statsbygg.no) by 15.10.15. Registration must contain the name and social security number of the person/s who shall participate in the inspection. Without prior registration a tenderer will not be admitted into the prison area.
