Møhlenpris school shall be completely renovated and altered to a growth centre that shall include a school (1st-7th years) for 250 pupils, a nursery for 60 children, before and after school care and a department for introduction classes (foreign language pupils).
The project shall be carried out as an interactive contract based on the turnkey contract standard NS 8407. The builder has engaged an engineering design group with all professions. These will be transported to the interactive contractor in the execution phase with the exception of the engineering design manager. It is assumed that this function will be taken care of by the interactive contractor.
The site (Cadastral no. 164/Title no.346) Møhlenpris school is located on 2840m2. A regulation process for the school site and the Tram Hall site is ongoing (Cadastral no. 164/Title no.344). The regulation plan has been sent for the 1st hearing and the town council are expected to adopt the regulation plan at the turn of the year 2014/2015. The building's area before the total renovation is approx. 4600 m2, after the total renovation it will be 5375 m2 gross. The main building was constructed in three full floors with two two-storey wings + basement and attic. The growth centre shall be taken into use and parts of the outside area shall be equipped inside the listed tram hall area, in addition parts of the Omnibus workshop on the listed area are a part of the project.
Møhlenpris school was constructed in 1911. The pupils have moved out and a total renovation of the building shall be carried out. In the town council resolution, case 80-12 dated 26.03.2012, a decision was made to alter Møhlenpris school to a growth centre. The vision is to develop a flexible department school that meets several needs. Bergen municipality has ambitions for a further developmnt of the knowledge lift in the form of "the school of the future" by operating with area frameworks and not room programmes. Particular emphasis is put on flexible use and zone division of the areas + the establishment of work units adapted to large groups of pupils.
The project shall be completed at the turn of the year 2016/2017
