Turnkey contract K201 Demolition and excavation Bergen National Academy of the Arts (Kunst- og designhøgskolen i Bergen)

Statsbygg has been contracted to carry out the project New Construction of Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHIB). The current plan is to have finished the construction in Spring 2017. The project would start with the preparatory work of demolition (of existing building), excavation and any sub grade preparation (to reduce uncertainty in regard to the infrastructure).
There is currently an older industrial site with an industrial shed from the 1950's which was built for Sverre Muncks crane factory. This will be demolished to make way for the new KHIB construction. The site is approximately 11 000 m² (11 dekar) and the building is approximately 6 700 sqm. Parts of the plan area were filled out in the 1900's and any remnants of pier structures and the like have probably disappeared. The stone wall and trees along Møllendalsvegen have cultural historic value and builds up the visual roadway. The largest possible part of the wall and the trees must be taken into account during preparation of the area. Automatically protected cultural heritage monuments have not been registered within the plan area, but there is the potential of finding unregistered cultural heritage monuments due to earlier activities in the area.
Framework application was sent to Bergen kommune on 29.1.2014.
This turnkey contract comprises amongst other things, the following main points:
1. Excavation of up to 20 points so that the consultant can take soil samples from the ground on the site.
2. Alteration of the water and sewerage pipes on the east side of the building.
3. Clearing the entire site of trees and vegetation, and including removal and disposal.
4. Environmental restoration and demolition of the existing building (surface area 4 500 m²) over two floors, total of 7 800 m². Removal and Disposal of all demolition materials.
5. Demounting of sections of the existing dry-stone wall facing Møllendalsveien.
6. Digging out the pit for the new building and disposal of surplus materials.
Some variation in the amount of work must be expected during the assignment.
