As part of providing young people in neighbourhoods more varied activities, Trondheim Municipality plans to build two small skateboard facilities (permanent skateboard playground in concrete and other skateboard-related areas in concrete) one at a school yard at Charlottenlund Primary School and another in an existing activity area between Markaplassen Middle School and Vikåsen Primary School.
The economic framework for the turnkey contract (preparation of working drawings and all work and costs associated with the preparation of the grounds) is NOK 1 000 000 excl. VAT. Tenders higher than NOK 1 000 000 will be rejected.
Subject to approved funding in the current year.
We want entrepreneurs with the professional, technical and economic basis necessary for the fulfilment of the contract for the preparation of necessary working drawings based on the tender documentation and construction of skate facilities in accordance with the tender documents. Because of the nature of concrete work, there will be special emphasis on ensuring that providers can demonstrate experience in similar works.

Special knowledge is required in order to construct a concrete skateboard facility on site. The reason is that the parts of the facility may involve challenging geometry and that there is an absolute requirement for the surface to be very smooth and slick. It should be polished with a trowel. Experience shows that increasingly many concrete skateboard facilities are being erected in Norway with significant errors and deficiencies. If the shape or surface is not good enough, it is impossible to correct by grinding or other forms of surface treatment of hardened concrete. In the skateboarding community, there is a widespread belief about the cause of the defects that have arisen in existing concrete skate facilities. Previous work has been performed by workers who are not skateboarders, and they do not possess the necessary knowledge about requirements for the final product. Providers must therefore ensure that this is taken care of.

Some transitions between the various items listed and curvatures are known as 'organic'. They cannot be described or achieved strictly by using drawings having a simple geometry. If transitions and/or surfaces are not created well enough, the facility will not function as intended and one is left with a facility that users will not use or one whose usefulness will be greatly reduced.
