The Division of Cultural Heritage of Rogaland County council is the regional cultural heritage authority in Rogaland County. Every land-use planning and building application is technically assessed by the section‘s executive officers, taking into consideration possible conflicts with cultural heritage. If they suspect that there might be unknown heritage sites within the area affected by development plans; cultural heritage registrations must be implemented. The objective of these registrations is to determine the extent of the preserved cultural heritage within / in proximity to the planning area, which must be taken into account in the planning process.
The Division of Cultural Heritage yearly conducts a large number of historical registrations. Mainly three different methods are used in this context; mechanical excavations with an excavator, shovel test pit, and surface registration.
When conducting mechanical excavations it is necessary to employ an independent contractor. The framework agreement relates to the purchase of contractor services related to such cultural heritage registrations.

This framework agreement is geographically limited to only the municipalities in Rogaland north of Boknafjorden. We have previously announced a competition for the area south of Boknafjorden. By the term “north of Boknafjorden“ we mean the following municipalities: On Haugalandet: Utsira, Haugesund, Karmøy, Tysvær, Vindafjord and Bokn. In Ryfylke: Sauda, Suldal, Hjelmeland, Strand and Forsand.
