Competition analyses in the freight transportation market

The Ministry of Transport and Communications wishes to implement a micro economic study of the competition in the freight transport market
In the National Transport Plan 2014–2023 it is emphasised on transferring transport of freight from road to sea and railroad. As a measure for strengthening the local shipping trade,emphasis will also be put on research and elucidation on sea transport and combined transport solutions, including analyses of the potential for transferring transport of freight from road to sea. The potential is highest where there is real or potential competition between the forms of transport.
The consultant shall implement analyses of the freight transport marked, and general cargo and container transport in particular, in order to reveal the parts of the market where competition between road, sea and railway exists. This means that the parts of the market where the transport forms are alternative/substitutes and therefore competitors, shall be identified. It will be of equivalent interest to identify the parts of the market where the transport forms complement each other, or for other reasons are not competing.
The analysis shall be implemented within 1.9.2014. The entire analysis shall be completed within 2.2.2015.
The analysis shall implemented as a supplement to the transport departments' freight project and other ongoing elucidations and shall obtain reports which shall be prepared as a basis in the freight project.
