In collaboration with Trondheim Havn IKS, Trondheim Municipality will conduct an environmental clean-up of the seabed in the harbour area. In the 4 designated areas, the seabed will be covered with a clean mineral layer that will insulate and protect against the spread of contaminants found in the sediment. This tender documentation includes offshore work, including dredging for depth correction and deposition of material with specific requirements as regards grain size ranges and layer thicknesses. The fill to be used is procured in a different contract. In addition, a waste disposal site will be constructed to hold the dredged sediments. This will take place under strict control against siltation and spread of contaminants and is based on a permit issued under the Pollution Control Act.

The work includes a seabed area of about approximately 310 000 m², of which about 100 000 m² consists of a thin capping layer in Ilsvika, that will not be dredged. In the other areas, the dredging volume will vary, with a total expected dredging of approximately 120 000 m². The amount of the fill includes about 175 000 m³ graded fines and approximately 25 000 m³ of stone to build embankment for the landfill.The time schedule can be adapted to the contractor's preferences, but there is a deadline for the channel being available from September 2015 and that all work shall be completed in April 2016.
