The project's extent and progress:
Tonsenhagen school consists of 4 buildings constructed from 1963 to 1997. Buildings A, B, C and D have two floors and are constructed out of brick.
Number of classes and employees: The school currently is a primary school for 1st - 7th years with two parallel classes in each year. In autumn 2014 the school shall have three parallel classes in each year.
The project consists of expanding the existing school from 2 to 3 parallel classes. The school currently has a clear division between the infants and juniors. The expansion will build on this principle by establishing an extension for Building A and an extension for Building D so that the home areas are supplemented with new classrooms. The existing areas are to be affected as little as possible. A new gym hall shall be constructed close to the infants and the activity school so that there can be active joint use of areas.
The existing school has the following gross areas:
Building A (main building) constructed 1963/1995 3,119.5 m²
Buildings B and C constructed 196 1,701.5 m²
Building D constructed 1963/1997 1,068.7 m²
Total area: 5,889.7 m²
The project consists of the following new built areas:
Building A, library + traffic area/lift 208.0 m²
Building B 124.5 m²
Building D including glass bridge 516.0 m²
Building E 960.0 m²
Technical room on the roof of buildings D and E 242.5 m²
Total new construction 2,051.2 m²
The areas that will be altered/renovated in the project are 997 m² and the areas with new ventilation and ceilings are 297 m².
