This contract includes delivery, production and erection of steel structures for the Hålogaland Bridge.
The Hålogaland Bridge with adjacent roads will replace parts of the current E6 road, a stretch of road with a high risk of rockslides and a low road standard, and it will shorten the E6 road between Narvik and Bjerkvik by 18 km. The project will start to the north of the centre of Narvik and continue below the Ofoten line through a 220 metre long tunnel to Karistranda at Rombaken. The road / tunnel section is 1.4 km in total.
From here, a new bridge, the Hålogaland Bridge, will be built across the mouth of Rombaken to Øyjord. The road continues across the Øyjord peninsula through a new, approximately 300-metre long tunnel to Stormyra on Øyjord where it will join the current E6/E10 road, a section of approximately 3, 5 km.
The Hålogaland Bridge is a suspension bridge with a span of 1,145 metres. The Hålogaland Bridge is a suspension bridge with a span of 1,145 metres. The span will be built as a closed steel box girder and the sailing height under the bridge will be 40 metres. Both main pylons will be built in the sea on the -31 contour line and -22 contour line. The pillar foundations for the side spans will also be built in the sea, on the -17 contour line. The top of the concrete pylons will be on contour lines 172 and 175, respectively. The bridge will be anchored on both sides of the fjord using conventional rock anchors.
The side spans will be built in concrete. At Karistranda (south side), the viaduct will be 250 metres; on the Øyjord side, the viaduct will be 148 metres.
The total length of the bridge will be 1 533 metres, and there will be two road lanes and a foot and cycle path.
