One of the aims of the development programme for town regions is to increase knowledge of the role of towns for regional development, and of the importance of interaction between towns and their surrounding areas. The analysis shall strengthen both the theoretical and empirical knowledge of interaction between Norwegian towns and their surrounding areas, with emphasis on empirical knowledge of the connection between growth in the towns and development in their surrounding areas. The analysis shall show which mechanisms are pertinent for such development, and demonstrate to what degree these mechanisms are affected by municipal, regional and government measures. The analysis shall be relevant for both small and large town regions.
The deliverables shall consist of an electronic final report and a power-point presentation with the main findings of the analysis, in Norwegian. In addition, the Ministry requests an interim report and a draft final report. The draft final report shall be available by 1.2.2015, before the completion of the assignment by March 2015. The service provider shall, at least on 2 occasions, contribute with knowledge and findings from the analysis at the network gatherings of the programme.
