The structural condition of the Oslo Prison Department A is generally poor and Statsbygg has therefore decided to initiate a pre-project in conjunction with the necessary rehabilitation of the roofs and facades, included are all of the associated structural and technical elements.
There shall be given group bids for the hourly rate of an overall design group. The group shall be contracted for a pre-project with one option for the detailed engineering phase, one option for the construction phase and one option for warranty claims phase.
Oslo Prison is located in Åkebergveien in Oslo and is the country's largest prison with about 400 prison places. The prison is divided into two sections - Section A (Botsfengselet) and Section B (formerly Oslo Kretsfengsel / Bayern). Oslo Prison Department A (Botsfengselet) was built during 1845 to 1851. Central heat was installed in approx. 1890. The original Botsfengselet got an extension, around 1930 which was called the D-wing. Oslo Prison Department A, is administratively listed on Cultural Heritage Management Office on the Oslo yellow list and proposed protected in the land conservation plan for the Ministry of Justice and Police. Until regulatory protection is processed by the Directorate it shall be treated as protected. The listing includes all buildings listed Botsfengselet to Christiania, now Oslo Prison Department A

The project scope is based on the full repairing of the roofs, including pipes, ducts, skylights and necessary repairs / replacements due to fungal diseases. Furthermore, the facades including windows rehabilitated / replaced as they are posted by wear and tear. This includes appropriate measures must be taken on a cornice when it is proven harm here which may cause fallout. The windows are made in wood of varying ages, mostly from the 1970s. Ceiling area is about 5 000 m², exterior walls approximately 10,000 m² and there are about 750 windows. In addition to roofs and facades should be an assessment of soil and foundations as it is proven phrase damage.
