Riksantikvaren

Askeladden is the Directorate of Cultural Heritage's official database of listed cultural monuments and cultural environments in Norway. The database is built on several old databases and the first version was officially opened in 2004. In January 2012 a new and upgraded version of Askeladden was launched. The database is owned and operated by the Directorate of Cultural Heritage.
Askeladden includes data of cultural monuments and cultural environments that are listed, or that are in a listing process in accordance with the Cultural Monument Act. These can be both archeological cultural monuments that are automatically listed, or that require further examinations before the listed status can be set (inconclusive protection status), and recent cultural monuments that are listed or temporarily listed. Cultural monuments from "recent times" (after the reformation in 1537) include buildings or sites that are listed or temporarily listed. In addition there are listed churches.
The contract is divided into three:
— Support and maintenance,
— Further development,
— Option for operation.
A joint further development of Askeladden and Kulturminnesøk.no as a joint contract is being assessed.
