Existing classified road 22 has, on the stretch Lillestrøm - Fetsund, consistently two lanes with parallel foot and cycle path. On half the stretch of road between Fetsund and Lillestrøm there is also a public transport lane. The classified road shall be extended to a four-lane road with central reservation and crash barriers.
The project starts in profile 250 by Isakveien, East of the center of Lillestrøm in Skedsmo Municipality, and ends in profile 5325 in Jan Stenerud vei in Fet Municipality. The four-lane road ends at the junction with Garderveien, from which there is a transition to two-lane road of approx. 500 m to the junction with Jan Stenerud vei. The foot and cycle path shall be moved outside the classified road's safety zone. Along classified road 22, the project is 5 km long. In addition some work shall be done 200 m into the classified road 159 so that the total length of the project is 5,2 km.
The terrain where the project is situated is described as “easy. The first 3,5 km of the road is in flat terrain, both lengthwise and crosswise. After that the road rises steadily at approx. 5% over a length of approx. 1 km.
All existing bridges and culverts shall be modified, expanded, extended or removed. Several constructions shall be built: two new culverts shall be constructed, an existing culvert shall be extended, six new bridges shall be constructed and an existing bridge shall be modified. Furthermore, a combined culvert for water and small animals shall be constructed, and a culvert for water shall be removed.
6 amphibian culverts shall be built with approx. 660 m guidewalls. Existing roundabout at classified road 159 shall be adjusted, two passing places outwith the circulation area of the roundabout shall be built, the roundabout at Tuensletta shall be extended, and the roundabout at Isakveien shall be removed. Two-level crossings shall be constructed in connection with Engaveien/Nerdrumsveien and Garderveien.
County road 279.01, Jølsenveien, shall be strengthened and widened over a length of 500 m. On the same stretch of road a parallel foot and cycle path shall be constructed. Jølsenveien shall then be extended by 900 m parallel to the classified road.
Fet Municipality's water supply shall be relaid over a length of 3 km. The dimension of the pipe is Ø500 mm. Parallel to this a reserve pipe with dimension Ø355 mm will be laid.
On both sides of the road there are fiber cables, a total of 27 conduits, which connects Oslo to Europe via Stockholm and Gothenburg. These cable pipes shall be moved, and there are also a high number of local electricity, telecommunications and television cables that need to be relaid. The classified road shall be equipped with road lighting on both sides. The side roads shall be equipped on one side only, and the foot and cycle paths shall have lights on the stretches where they are placed seperately from the other roads.
1200 m noise-deflection wall shall be built, and a 630 m long and 2,5 m high reinforced embankment shall be constructed to prevent glare on / from the parallel led Jølsenveien. Approx. 20 000 m³ of solid rock shall be blasted.
Classified roady 22 has heavy traffic. The average annual daily traffic is over 20,000 with a large proportion of heavy vehicles. There are major congestion in the morning and afternoon rush hours and there are no diversion possibilities so the traffic must go through the construction site throughout the construction period.
All foot and cycle paths and access to bus stops should be designed so that they meet the requirement for accessibility for all. It is a requirement that the cyclists and pedestrians have approximately the same mobility during the construction phase that they had before the construction work started. All temporary diversions of existing foot and cycle paths shall be covered with asphalt or milling asphalt.
