The Awarding Authority in this tender competition is ÅRIM - Ålesundregionens Interkommunale Miljøselskap IKS. The tender competition is carried out for ÅRIM by Ålesund municipality - Group procurement. ÅRIM is owned by Giske, Haram, Norddal, Sandøy, Skodje, Stordal, Stranda, Sula, Sykkylven, Vestnes, Ørskog and Ålesund municipalities.
In 2012 ÅRIM took over the municipalities’ statutory assignments regarding collecting, recycling and managing waste. During 2012, with initialisation in 2013, ÅRIM will also take over the responsibility for emptying and management of sludge from septic tanks and smaller sludge tanks.
The objective of the tender competition is to procure services which shall provide ÅRIM assistance in emptying septic tanks and larger interceptors for sludge and sealed sewage tanks in municipalities. Parts of the procurement also include treatment of sludge. The assignment is divided in 2 geographical areas with separate Agreements for each area:
Zone 1: Emptying of sludge from treatment units in Ålesund, Giske, Haram and Sandøy municipalities.
Zone 2: Emptying and treatment and sludge from treatment units in Sula, Sykkylven, Stranda, Norddal, Stordal, Ørskog, Skodje as well as larger treatment units in Vestnes.
The agreement period is 8 years starting 1.1.2013.

Miljøservice AS’s description of the use of subcontractors: Slamsug as, Grønn Vekst Vestlandet as (GVV), og Vestnes Renovasjon as (VR). The last 2 companies have an approved license from the county administrator and can accept of water sludge for treatment. Water sludge from zone 2 will be transported to the GVV and / or VR for treatment. Refer to further information in appendix to clause 8.1.3.7 of the tender documents. Slamsug as will be an additional resource / capacity for Miljøservice as required with extra system draining.
