MA2521/12E. Upgrade of satellite antennas

NRK is planning procurement of upgrade of a NEC 6,4 meter, and an Andrew 4,6 meter, both step-tracking, KU-band earth stations. This tender is for the upgrade planning, construction, equipment delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of the earth stations.
The objective is to have one single type of control-system for the antennas, either the existing SAT-NMS on the 6,4 meter, or a similar, new "overall" system. The chosen M&C system shall be able to control both the 6,4 and 4,6 meter antennas, and shall be possible to expand with more antennas. It shall be responsive and reliable, and make the switching between satellites quick and easy. Obsolete parts, like the transmitters and related parts of the 6,4 m antenna, and ACU, MPEG-encoder and QPSK-modulator of the 4,6 m antenna, shall be replaced.
Both systems shall be able to transfer audio and video content with surround and HD quality.
When awarding this contract, NRK has to take into consideration the cost of switching from SAT-NMS to a system with another operating philosophy, and related cost elements, such as training and maintenance.
