A regional travel habit survey shall be carried out in Jæren in 2012. The assignment involves planning the survey, collecting data, data and methodology checks, documentation, analysis and presentation of the results.
The aim of the survey is to document the population’s travel habits in 2012, examine if there have been any changes in travel patterns and behaviour in the population during the period that has elapsed since the last travel habit surveys (in 1998 and 2005), as well as examine which changes have occurred. This shall give increased knowledge and understanding for the regional and local travel patterns in the region and will serve as a basis for decisions in area and transport planning.

The awarding authority would like tenders for a travel habit survey which is comparable with equivalent surveys carried out in 1998 and 2005. In addition the survey must be comparable with the national travel habit surveys. The questionnaire from the Travel Habit Survey in Jæren from 2005 is attached.The survey shall include Stavanger, Sandnes, Sola, Randaberg, Hå, Klepp, Time Gjesdal, Strand and Rennesøy municipalities.The survey shall be carried out in a representative selection of the population in the municipalities included in the survey. The selection shall make up 3,5 % of the population from 13 years of age and shall be drawn from the National Register. This shall make up approx. 8 700 persons.A representative selection must be ensured as regards gender, age and consideration must be given to any inequalities due to the selection methodology etc. Stavanger, Sandnes and Sola municipalities have the most challenging areas and transport problems and the awarding authority would like as large a part of the selection as possible which will make a more detailed examination of a lower geographically level (zone level) than municipality level possible.The awarding authority would like to evaluate the option to increase the selection to 4 % of the relevant municipalities’ population from 13 years of age and tenderers are asked to price this. This shall make up approx. 9 900 persons.
