Main inspection of Oslo municipality’s bridges above and below water

Oslo municipality, c/o the Urban development Department, Division Transport and Communication administers more than 300 bridges and culverts in Oslo municipality. Main inspections of bridges shall be executed on a regular basis. The purpose of this is condition evaluations and condition descriptions in order to obtain optimal maintenance of the structures.
The inspections shall be in accordance with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s handbook 136 “Inspection handbook for bridges”. A systematic registration of discovered damages and measuring and material examinations shall be carried out. Based on results from inspections, measuring and material examinations, assessments of each element of the bridge and the entire bridge shall be made.
It shall be prepared a condition description and costs estimate if maintenance measures are required. Complete inspection reports with pictures and maintenance measures including costs estimate shall be uploaded in BRUTUS, which is the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s software tool for registration of bridges, inspection reports and maintenance works on bridges.
Inspection of bridges under the Awarding Authority’s area of responsibility shall be implemented during a period of 3, 5 years. The assignment shall be initiated in July/August 2011.

The unit prices shall include all works in connection with the main inspection of bridges, such as preliminary works, erection of scaffolds, signage and notifications, reports, etc.
