Engineering design, expansion of SNJ

IVAR IKS

IVAR IKS, henceforth referred to as the Awarding Authority, operates a mutual sewage treatment plant for the municipalities in Nord-Jæren; the central sewage treatment plant Nord-Jæren (abbreviation SNJ). The sewage treatment plant is required to implement secondary cleansing. SNJ was basically constructed as a chemical plant for cleansing phosphorus. The existing chemical plant is not able to meet the requirements for secondary cleansing which are:
1. BOF5 - the amount in the sewage water shall be reduced with minimum 70 % of what is fed the treatment plant, or shall not exceed 25 mg 02/l in connection with emission.
2. KOF - the amount in the sewage water shall be reduced with minimum 75 % of what is fed the treatment plant, or shall not exceed 125 mg 02/l in connection with emission.
The Awarding Authority requests tender for preparation of a preliminary project, selection of processes and detailed engineering design for upgrading of SNJ.
A draft project has been prepared. The draft project assesses processes which may be relevant in connection with expansion and upgrading of the plant. The draft project is attached the tender notice in Doffin. It is a condition that the plant meets the requirement for secondary cleansing, but it is also emphasised that more stringent demands may occur.
The plant which shall be constructed must therefore, by simple alterations, achieve more stringent cleansing demands for BOF5 and KOF. It is also emphasised the plant’s potential for cleansing of phosphorus and nitrogen. The reason for this is future stringent demands, but also in case the Awarding Authority finds it suitable and financial advantageous to recycle these nutritive substances from the sewage water.
It is a condition that a biological plant shall be constructed. Assumptions, sizes and dimensions are given in the draft project attached the tender notice in Doffin.
