Bergen University (UiB, Norge) invites herewith suppliers to tender for the procurement of a new high performance computing system.
The new system shall be operated by the University. The system will be an integrated part of the high performance infrastructure in Norway.
The purchased system shall be a state-of-the-art system in a broad sense, i.e. both in regard to equipment (processor, memory, network, storage solutions) and software solutions(operating system, compilers, tools, library etc.) The system shall be maintained as an up to date system for the next four years.
We expect that the new high performance system will be capable of delivering more than 200 teraflops theoretical (peak) performance without the use of accelerators. (GPGPU).
The system will be financed by Norges Forskningsråd, Universitetet i Bergen and co-operating scientific institutions in Bergen.
We require tenders for a computer system which has a complete function and configuration in 2011.
The new system will replace the existing system.
There may be further procurements during the period 2012-2014. This will largely depend upon the success of the this procurement.
